About Luodong Forestry Culture Park

Located in Luodong Township, Yilan County, Taiwan, Luodong Forestry Culture Park is a unique cultural and ecological park built on the site of the historic Luodong Forestry Bureau. The park preserves the rich history of Taiwan's forestry industry, which thrived during the Japanese colonial period. Spanning an area of roughly 27 hectares, the park features a fascinating blend of natural subtropical forest landscapes and restored old timber industry buildings, including sawmills, warehouses, and rail tracks used during the peak of timber production. Visitors can stroll along well-maintained trails shaded by towering banyan and camphor trees, accessing educational exhibits that highlight traditional logging methods, woodworking crafts, and the ecological significance of the native forest ecosystem. The park also offers bicycle rentals and guided tours, making it accessible for families and outdoor enthusiasts. Wildlife such as native birds, insects, and small mammals thrive in this green oasis amid the urbanizing region, enhancing its appeal for nature observation and photography. Seasonal events often emphasize forestry culture and environmental education, drawing locals and tourists year-round. With nearby Luodong Night Market and easy transportation links, Luodong Forestry Culture Park serves as an engaging destination combining outdoor recreation with cultural heritage immersion in northern Taiwan.
